Štěpánov nad Svratkou
from Sunday, June 29 to Saturday, July 12, 2025
We are currently preparing the 40th annual Summer Youth Camp. Anyone between the ages of 10 and 20 can apply. If you are interested in technical and artistic fields and want to improve your skills, you have a unique opportunity to combine morning studies with afternoon activities in nature.
The event has been held in Štěpánov nad Svratkou for several years and will take place from Sunday, June 29 to Saturday, July 12, 2025.
Once again, you will be able to choose from the fields of Electronics, Programming, Photography, Audiovisual Production (Video), 3D Printing, and, newly, Illustration (Manga).
Electronics
One of the most popular sections is electronics. Participants will practice soldering, review some theory, and build a product. When building and, if necessary, activating the product, they will most often work with a micro soldering iron, multimeter, laboratory power supply, and oscilloscope.
Programming
Another frequently chosen field is programming. Depending on their abilities, participants will either learn the basics of programming or improve their skills in certain programming techniques. The section leaders, who are experienced programmers, teach their charges to program in a higher-level programming language, traditionally C++ or the popular Python.
Photography
The number of people interested in photography varies, which is not surprising given the attractive range of other specializations on offer. If you want to learn how to use your camera or camera phone really well, this is an excellent opportunity. Are your photos missing something, or are they somehow not quite right? Here you will learn how to do it, what is important when taking photos, and then… all you have to do is capture the right light. And if you think you can master it quickly and still have time for other activities, then come and try it! Just don’t think about it for too long, they are already looking for extras in the video section.
Video – Audiovisual Production
Although video production is one of the most demanding activities at LSM, it always finds people who are interested. Who wouldn’t be tempted to work on a TV crew for at least a few days? There are cameras, tripods, microphones, lights, computers, editing rooms everywhere… and a real director will try to teach you how to work with all of it. Well, the results are not always as perfect as on TV, but so many intense experiences and the atmosphere in front of and behind the camera are often unrepeatable. It’s a good thing we recorded it.
3D printing
Do you already have your own 3D printer? Whether you do or not, in this section you will learn what 3D printing is all about. You can learn how to create your own models, set the correct print parameters, prepare data for printing, and then… print from morning to night and from night to morning. Don’t worry, there are more than enough printers here.
Illustration / Manga
Learn to express yourself through drawing and create stories through images. While the previous activities have specific rules without which nothing will work, here you can really let loose.
And if we’ve piqued your interest, in addition to the things you would normally take to camp, you will need:
slippers, because we will be in the school building
a computer, which you will either need for work in the club or just for fun
Optionally, we recommend:
your favorite book or something to read
your favorite board game
a musical instrument
The price of the camp is not high for a two-week stay. It includes accommodation in the building, meals, and any necessary materials, all for CZK 9,000 (i.e., CZK 750/day).
A big advantage of staying in the school building is the adequate sanitary facilities (toilets and showers) and high-quality meals prepared in the school kitchen, which meets all hygiene and health requirements. In case of summer storms, we don’t have to worry about the roof over our heads.
Everyone is responsible for their own transportation to and from the camp. If you have any transportation issues, please let us know and we will definitely work something out.
We accept students from the age of 9. We have found it helpful when younger children have an older sibling at camp, but this is not a requirement. We have experienced teaching staff who can handle all age groups.
